The development of customized process flow by our R&D team allows us to optimize high yield recovery with reduced environmental burden. The recovery processes consists of: Hydro-Metallurgy, Pyro-Metallurgy, Electro-Chemical Techniques.
The recovery facility is design for batch wise process to cater for individual customer basis and recovery basis. Material load range per batch – PGM content of 30gm to maximum 100 Kgs of raw material.
Ion exchange process technology is available to recover PGM selectively. NOx and SOx fumes are eliminated by our chemical treatment equipment connected to stand-alone pre-scrubbers and main scrubbers. This allows us to treat the fumes before being discharged as clean air to the atmosphere.
Our team of internationally accredited experts address the technical aspects of these processes.
Recovery & Refining
Melting process is to convert the recovered and refined semi finish materials into finish goods as an ingot using a high temperature melting process. To avoid cross-contamination during melting, our facilities feature dedicated equipment for the melting of each precious metal.
Our finished products can be in form of granules, bars and coins. Internal ICP and Fire assay analysis are available. Third party certification on the evaluation of the quality of refined ingot is also available upon request.

Pre-Treatment Process
Copper Recovery & Refining
-
In our Copper Recovery & Refining division, we mostly use e-waste End-of-Life (EOL) electrical and electronic items. E-waste contains valuable metals like gold, silver, palladium, and copper. On receiving the e-waste it will be checked and sorted.
-
Then it goes through various steps including dismantling, desoldering, separation, and crushing, using modern machines and skilled workers. Only the needed parts go into the Copper Smelting furnace, while the rest are sent to other departments for further use.
The output of the furnace is known as black copper which goes for further refining to extract pure copper and precious metal content.
Extract Copper & Precious Metals
Smelting
Shan Poornam’s Copper Smelting furnace is specially designed to extract copper and precious metals from electronic scrap and e-waste.Our smelting technology runs on a form of renewable energy known as waste-to-energy.
The e-waste charged into the furnace contains carbonaceous materials such as fibre board which when heated releases energy that is used in smelting. This process which is a form of energy recovery is also a clean and renewable energy source.
Output
-
The output of the furnace is known as blister copper which goes for further refining to extract pure copper and precious metal content.

Output
-
The output of the electro refining process is called anode slime and copper cathode. Precious metal is recovered from the anode slime.
TSL Furnace
SWARNA/Copper Plant
Swarna is a state of art Top Submerged Lance furnace using Scada. Scada system and PID controller supports efficient operation with optimum energy renewal recovery.
-
The copper blister is further refined in the Copper Tank House to produce copper cathodes with 99.99% purity.
-
During this process, anode slime settles at the bottom of the tank. This slime goes through a hydrometallurgy process using advanced equipment with an auto-dosing system to recover precious metals.
-
The recovered metals are then refined further using custom-built machines with special reactors and condensers to ensure high purity of gold, platinum, palladium, and silver.
-
Finally, these 99.99% metal powders are sent to the PGM Casting Department, where they are melted in a dedicated furnace and cast into metal ingots.

Recovery & Refining
Fire Refining and Anode Casting
In Shan Poornam, we use our Anode Furnace to further refine blister copper through oxidation and reduction processes. The product from the Anode furnace is called Anode Copper and it is casted by a semi automatic casting machine. Anode copper contains a high percentage of copper along with precious metal content and it goes into our in-house Copper Electro Refining division for further recovery.
Modern copper refining technology is employed at SPM to extract a pure copper cathode of purity 99.99 % from our copper anode. The anode slime with precious metal content is recovered at our PGM refining facility.

Pollution Control System
Wet Scrubber Systems
We use a wet scrubber system made up of a Pre-Scrubber, Acid Scrubber, and NOx Scrubber to clean harmful fumes from our production processes.
-
Acid fumes are neutralized to safe levels in the Acid Scrubber.
-
NOx gases are treated in the NOx Scrubber.
-
Scrubber blow down solution is sent to in-house wastewater treatment system (IETS).
Air released from the system meets the Clean Air Regulation 2014 and is safe for the environment.
We install pre-scrubber at production floor to ease the main scrubber to work with better effiiciency and reduce energy.

Waste Water Treatment
Industrial Effluent Treatment System
for Acid, Alkaline and Cyanide waste water
Our Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS) uses a complete process that includes pH neutralization, sedimentation, flotation, bio-oxidation, filtration, and absorption. Treated water is safely discharged to the monsoon drain in full compliance with the Environmental Quality Act (Industrial Effluent) Regulation 2009 – Standard B.

Additive Injection of Sorbacal SPS
Additive injection of Sorbacal SPS is used to trap SOx, HCl, HF and other pollutants to be further treated with Wet Scrubber. Standby Generator Set ensures the Pollution Control System is always functional even during any power failure.
